Lynx Lake with 1990 Terry Trailer
Last weekend we headed to Lynx Lake in Prescott, AZ with our mostly-finished 1990 Terry Trailer. It is a seriously cute little trailer, and this was our first trip. Daughter Sam and her husband, Dave, brought their tent along for the weekend.
The Lynx Lake campground is one of our favorites. It has 35 sites, no hookup or dump station. (We use the “facilities” at Affinity RV on our way out of town.) In summer Prescott is significantly cooler than the Phoenix area (especially after the sun goes down) and the lake is beautiful. There are tall pines, lots of birds and one nosy skunk. Our campsite was huge, with a ramada, fire pit, 2 tables and plenty of room for Sam and Dave’s tent. We rented kayaks and a fishing boat and trekked the 2.4 mile trail around the lake. It’s an easy drive into Prescott for art shows, coffee shops, restaurants, Whiskey Row and antique shops. We also visited the Superstition Meadery for a mead tasting.
One of the biggest perks (ha ha) of trailer camping is not having to get dressed and go outside for coffee in the morning! Just roll out of bed and light the burner. Even without hookup the stove, fridge and hot water heater run on propane and the water pump and lights run on battery. So you can use the bathroom, shower, wash dishes, keep food cold, cook and you don’t have to wear a headlamp when you’re trying to get ready for bed.
It was a great weekend, but now we’re back in the Phoenix heat, with a few more details to finish up on Terry. Our next trip may be to one of our favorite campgrounds in Flagstaff and a hike up to the 12,637 foot peak of Mt. Humphreys. For now, we’ve added Prescott to our trip board.
